The Amarnath Yatra is a sacred and spiritual journey to one of the holiest shrines in India, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located in the stunning Himalayas, this pilgrimage takes you to the Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir, home to the naturally occurring Shiv Lingam formed of ice. The journey is an experience of devotion, adventure, and breathtaking landscapes.
On arrival at Srinagar International Airport, at an altitude of 1730 meters, meet our assistant at the airport and drive to Sonamarg, "THE MEADOW OF GOLD" - 102 km from Srinagar Airport, which will be covered in about 3 hours. Sonamarg lies in Sindh Valley, streamed with flowers and surrounded by mountains. Sonamarg is also the base for some interesting treks to the high altitude of Himalayan lakes. The Sindh River that meanders through the valley abounds with trout. Island Retreat Park, 4 km before the main Sonamarg market, is a delta amidst the Sindh River on Sonamarg road and is a common stopover for travelers. The wooden bridge over the roaring river leads to the park, making it a memorable scene. On arrival at Sonamarg, check in at your reserved hotel. After check-in, visit the everlasting Thajiwas Glacier, 3 km from Sonamarg, which provides a chance to enjoy sledding on the snow even in mid-summer. Ponies can be hired for the trip up to Thajiwas Glacier. Evening return to your reserved hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
